A well-known annoyance to hardcore gamers, when a video game console experiences a long period of no good games being released, named after Nintendo's habit of long "dry periods", after a series of releases for, example, the holiday season.
I'm waiting for those new Mario and Metroid games, but it's going to be a few months before the Nintendo drought clears up. Looks like I'll have to deal with crappy 3rd-Party games 'till then...

Get the Nintendo DSmug. Nintendo's system made to compete with the Sony Playstation and SEGA Saturn. The 64 got it's name because it was 64 bit, unlike the PSX and Saturn which were 32 bit.
The 64 was the first console with an analog stick and the first console with a vibrating controller. However being a cartridge based system, it had inferior sound quality. But becuase it was a cartridge based system it was very reliable (Good luck finding a broken one.) Also cartridges have less space on them then CDs, so Nintendo lost alot of 3rd party support. Cartridges are expensive and companies didn't want to pay tons to put a huge game across multiple cartridges.
The 64 had smoother graphics then any other console that generation, though the colour palette had heaps of crappy oranges and such.
The 64's controller was revolutionary, but crap. The analog stick could be worn out quickly (If you want your controller to last stay away from Mario Party.) Also the c buttons were hard to reach.
Some popular 64 games are: Super Smash Bros, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, F-Zero X, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Perfect Dark, GoldenEye 007, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Lylatwars.

Get the Nintendo Wiimug. The next generation of the Nintendo gaming console that is currently in development. Not much is known about this system, -though Nintendo said that this next console will be focusing more on gaming innovation (like they did with Nintendo DS) than game hardware, although still remain true to new technology in graphics and gameplay. They also said that Nintendo Revolution will not quite be a game console, because it will be able to hook up to a computer screen/computer, reason: unknown. Nintendo is also interested in making innovative items that make gameplay more funner and deliver new ideas, like Sony did with their eye toy. It is slated to be released competitevely with the so called PS3 (working title), and Microsoft Xbox2 (working title), at the end of 2005/early 2006.
Nintendo Quote
"What we need is not a next-generation machine but a next-generation way of playing games. We need to propose a new idea so that the game industry can overcome its current crisis."
That crisis being is that the gaming industry can no long rely on stunning the audience with sophisicated visuals.
