When someone claims to have bought a round of drinks at a bar when they were actually free from the bartender. This usually occurs on pool league night, and was Started by a cheap dirtbag named Scotty E back in the early 1990's. The term is now mostly used as a punch line.

When picking up the free round from the bartenter you tell your team mates - "Hey everyone, I just got the Scotty round!"

Plagiarizing content from bloggers but passively aggressively denying any relevance of said-blogger, claiming they also ripped off that what they posted.

Senator Sotto didn't want to research the exact words of the study, instead he sottofied that blog post. Why should I admit to plagiarism if the blogger also just copied the results from the original research?
