Opposite of a fuckboy. Tries to find committed relationships through complimenting girls and being nice to them. Usually never works and the “softboy” is most likely a virgin and will be until he transforms into a fuckboy.

Girl A: Jake is being so nice to me. I think he likes me.
Girl B: that’s different
Girl A: yeah I think he is a softboy. I wish he’d just be a dick to me so I could fuck him
Girl B: yeah I have no idea why guys think being a softboy is attractive

usually refers to a female who is not skinny but is also not fat. It is considered a term of endearment and in no way an insult. It is the opposite of the 80s term "Hardbodied" which use to refer to women who worked out all the time and had very "hard" bodies.
