Occupational Therapy

often abbreviated OT, is the use of treatments to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of patients with a physical, mental or developmental condition.Occupational therapy is a client-centered practice that places a premium on the progress towards the client’s goals. Occupational therapy interventions focus on adapting the environment, modifying the task, teaching the skill, and educating the client/family in order to increase participation in and performance of daily activities, particularly those that are meaningful to the client.

occupational therapy

A term used by the Occupational Therapy Profession which confuses the masses, but means: the facilitation of and application of volitional activity to promote wellbeing. Perhaps it should be re-named volitional activity therapy.

1. Going on holiday to have a break because you have been working too hard.

2. Helping somebody who has experienced an injury or illness find new ways to carry out activities that he or she wishes to, that he or she would otherwise have difficulties with due to the effects of the injury or illness.

3. Choosing a vocation that increases your sense of self-worth.

4. Creative activities that give one a sense of pleasure or achievement which contribute to ones wellbeing.

Occupational Constipation

When you just can't give a shit about something at work. This is usually due to seeing wonderful new programs fall on their faces time and time again.

Worker 1: Hey, did you see we're having a raffle to win plastic water guns?! You get tickets by bringing in school supplies!!!! It's such a great idea!
Worker 2: Sorry, I'm suffering from a bad case of occupational constipation.
