Grumpy Old Opinionated Man. Invented by Rob Baillieu during the successful Independent campaign for Dr Monique Ryan in the Australian federal seat of Kooyong 2022.
Goom was used to describe the typically older, aggressive, and at time sexist men that would harass female volunteers and the candidate with unsolicited and unhelpful opinions.
It has since spread into Australian corporate, social, and political vernacular
