The real villain of the series is Elara Merandus, his mother. He tried to break away from her grasp, but he couldn't. He deserved better than how he was treated by the other characters. Although he was turned into a monster by his mother, deep down he was waiting for someone to save him. He lost everyone that he had ever loved, and he should not have died. Maven deserved the world. He truly is a tragic character.
