What a boyfriend usually refers to his girlfriend as, in the early part of the relationship. Usually replaced with 'bitchy', 'annoying', or 'crazy', at the very first sign a girl suddenly seems human to the guy, or disagrees with him about anything. 'Awesome' is synonymous with 'incredible', 'sweet', 'amazing', and other such terms of endearment.

"OMG! You're so awesome! You're incredible! I've never met a girl as amazing as you! I love you so much!"

Adjective overused as an exclusionary Shibboleth to identify Americans, and certain Canadians (with permission) to differentiate them from mature, educated, English-speaking adults.

If you do not use the word "awesome" eleventy-eight times per hour conversationally you must not be an American (or a permitted Canadian) and will be required to remain in your smelly little village in the Third World evermore (example: Skipton, UK).
