A moronic acronym that is used as a shorthand Avenged Sevenfold, a metalcore band that finds ways to become dumber and more irritating with everything they do, whether it's comparing themselves to Metallica, praising Korn as the spokesmen for their generation, or expecting fans to take them seriously when they use stage names like M. Shadows, Zacky Vengance and Synyster Gates. The last two are the band's guitarists, who receive massive amounts of praise for their technical ability despite the fact that J Mascis and Stephen Malkmus can both outplay them.

The A7x Clan, named after the popular band Avenged Sevenfold, was originally formed in 2004 as an online clan for the game Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow for the PlayStation 2. At the time, the clan consisted of only three members: Venge, Quiet, and Damon. Soon, though, the group's reputation spread, and new players began to join the group. At its peak, the A7x clan has had as many as a dozen members at one time. Since then, members have come and gone. Still the clan plans to continue playing the series, even into the next generation of gaming.
