The word itself can be used for many other things too.

Because the PS3 costs too much and the glitch it has stinks, I'm getting a Nintendo Wii.

Wii

A video game system that appeals to the casual gamer. Created by Nintendo, the Wii is a system driven by new technology, but has had limited quality software. The library is composed of mostly party games and a few AAA titles: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4, Super Paper Mario. Although the Wii has had an amazing run in its first year of sales, it is not a true next-gen system(circa 2008), nor is it a system targeted at the average or hardcore gamer. Currently, Nintendo has been unable to assure that quality titles will be released regularly as 2008's release schedule seems lackluster. Without some assurance of a promising future, Nintendo's Wii might follow in the steps of the N64 and Gamecube and be known as merely an expensive toy, rather than a gaming system. Fad? only the future will tell.

I really only play my Wii when my friends are over.. but that's why I have my 360/PS3.

Wii

Formerly known as the Nintendo Revolution, the Wii will be Nintendo's fifth entry to the console marketplace. Nintendo revealed the new name on April 27th, 2006, and experienced a huge internet backlash.

Nintendo has insisted as of yet that the Wii, which is pronounced "we," will in fact be the universal name of the system. It will launch in November 2006.

Angry Nintendo Fans: "OMG we want teh revolution not teh Wii!"

Iwata: "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet."

The name for Nintendo's new videogame console. It's got a motion sensing remote control. Any movement you make, the same happens on screen. Play Tennis with Wii Sports, shoot-'em-ups with Metroid Prime 3, escape from disaster with Day of Disaster, smash things to pieces with H.A.M.M.E.R. (which has a guest appearence from M.C. Hammer), jump around with Mario Galaxy and play many more fresh, interesting, inviting games with the Nintendo Wii.
