This is just a snippet of what an Advanced Role Play should look like, there is a heck of a lot more than just these to post from one.
Yuuki: It was getting midday as Arura walked through the forest. Other than the animals of the forest that would some times come up to her for a moment, then run off, she was alone. But, knowing the potential dangers, she carried with her bow and quiver filled with arrows, though she hoped to not use them. She breathed in the cool, autumn air. It was soothing to her.
Figuring there was no one within ear distance, she began to hum a soft melody. And as she continued on, it began to grow into a wordless song. It was carried through the trees by the wind, harmonizing with the songs of nature.
Wolfgang: Ahmose slipped through the trees as silently as the animals that made it their homes. His movements weren't quite as fluid as theirs or the elves that lived so closely with them, but it served just as well. The singing served him well to hone in on his target as he hunted. Small hand signs were made with his left hand as his right carried a sword. His target was usually alone on her walks but could be armed. Besides she could be secretly meeting someone who he'd have to deal with.
Suddenly he found the path. Ahmose stopped and backed off into the trees again, listening for the voice which still rang out clear. She was past him already, good. He followed the path, noting a few more animals present than he'd seen before, odd since it was so near a path. Finally he saw her ahead of him and leaped softly, almost floated, up to a tree branch.
She was certainly beautiful, by human and elven standards, and he took a moment to admire her. After that moment was passed he sheathed his sword and raised his left hand before him, beginning the endless sequence it'd be going through once more from the beginning. Halfway through he breathed a single word, and launched himself forward. He rocketed forward to the next tree and the next until he was level with her. He leaped down and stood right next to her, roughly grabbing her arm as he raised his left hand once more, the sequence finishing just as he did.
There was a rushing feeling and then... They were in a clearing with two horses, an empty fire ring, and a few supplies. Several miles from where they had just been.

Get the Advanced Role Play mug.Full of fangirls, High School, scenefags, along with sparkly vampire or teens-injected-with-animal-DNA role plays involving Mary-Sue characters created by emo fags with no originality. These "original" characters tend to be carbon copies of one another and are usually ridiculously scene/emo. Typical descriptions for said character contain unnecessary details about this person's past and how they angst about their parents both dying in some bizarre tragic event.
Very few people can actually write even remotely well. And those who claim to be able to write are typically elitist douchebags who use ridiculous amounts of purple prose so they can go on about how their introduction filled with mindless fluff is over 20 posts long.
The few decent writers all flock to out of character boards and sit around jerking each other off in the "neoclique" talking about how great it is to be "Neofamous" while blissfully unaware of the fact that they are completely pathetic by taking role playing on a virtual pet site so seriously, and even more pathetic for taking out of character drama on a role play board on a virtual pet site so seriously.
The only real amusing thing to do is troll. Which is ridiculously easy to do, even if you make your trolling attempts painfully obviously people will still be completely oblivious to it.

Get the Legoshi role play rule 34 stripper playhouse hooters sexy club and bar mug.On a MUSH (sort of like a text-based MMO), Consensual Roleplay means that your character will not get into any sticky wickets that you do not want him/her to get in. You control your destiny, and if Quickswitch wants to murder you with his space-puma jaws, you can say no. Alternately, you can't touch Alpha Q in the swimsuit area without his written permission.
"You can't kill Cliffjumper, Scourge! He doesn't consent. We have a 'consensual role play' policy! Learn that shit!"

Get the consensual role play mug.The extended version of the acronym 'LARP', which is pretty self explanatory. LARP is a type of game or sporting activity similar to most modern RPG video-games, however as the name suggests it is done in live action, meaning real people in real environments. Players create their characters based on the fictional universe that their LARPing group has established and often take on particular roles or 'skills' in which they level up to benefit themselves or their team in pursuing a goal within the universe; examples of which could be overthrowing a tyrant leader to rule a kingdom, becoming the strongest player/s in the game, or simply just seeking revenge on that one friend that always screws you over. Most LARPs involve medieval or fantasy combat with soft foam weapons, some have pre determined stories where as others allow the actions of players to affect the direction of the plot.
They explained to their friends that LARP was actually an acronym, standing for Live Action Role Play

Get the live action role play mug.Since some definitions here are a little old, here's the 2010 edition to the definition of "role play"
A kid, usually from middle school to young adult (23 is usually the cut off age now adays) who use someone's pictures, such as a site model, actress, artist, etc and create a character from a book series, TV series, or they start a character from scratch.
Role players are usually hated, but many people (Including role players themselves) think that the perpose is the profile editing, making layouts, editing pictures, creating a story, etc. REAL role players intentions are not to steal peoples pictures and claim to be them. A lot of role players actually ask permission from the person they take pictures from.
I'm not siding with a role player or with a person against role play. I've very nuetral on this topic. But role players are commonly mistaken for fakes. Hopefully I've helped fix that.
