Basically a shit sandwich served up at your work by a senior manager, who calls it a 'development opportunity' to relieve their conscience as they should be performing this task themselves.

Manager - "I have a development opportunity for you, could you please do (insert mundane task here)?"
You - "Fuck!"

Unique Opportunity

A deceitful promise of great reward and glory offered to an unfortunate individual to participate in an unpleasant task.

The Unique Opportunity is delivered in such a way as to motivate the individual to see past the cruel and loathsome task ahead.

In most situations, the 'Unique Opportunity' is given by a delegator otherwise known as 'Master'.

The 'Master' is known for his/her dark craft-like ability in deflecting an undesired task to an unforuntate individual in the form of a Unique Opportunity.

Master: Hey David, I have a Unique Opportunity for you! I need you to go downstairs into the cellar and clear up all the rat shit, your efforts will be very much appreciated.

David: (sigh) ok.
