This phrase was used by herders of flying cows to describe cows that shit in mid flight, this later came to mean any bullshit that was higher in altitude then normal, and later to its current meaning of any bullshit that is bullshitier then normal.

Rather than say, providing jobs or useable resources for the people it seeks to make an area prettier to the benefit of the few, whilst providing profits for investors and speculators. Bullsmit takes its name from the creator of the Eden Project Tim Smit, itself a project that closed a working clay mine to create an overgrown greenhouse for tourists to look at.
