8 to 5 step size

The most common/basic step sized used in high school marching bands. It basically means 8 steps within every 5 yards.

Band Director: "Okay guys, this next set will be marched at an 8 to 5 step size.

Used when something is arguable but you can’t be bothered to argue it.
Thought to stem from if someone says something controversial at 3 minutes to 5 but due to wanting to leave work soon, you don’t bother arguing it.
Often used in situations where “agree to disagree” could be used

“I think John Bridge should have won the X-Factor instead of Brian Hamilton.”
“Well, 3 to 5.”

Code for marijuana (weed, cannabis, pot, reefer, etc.,). It is a play on the term 4:20, because it is precisely 40 minutes before 5 o'clock...thus 40 to 5.

Yo, let's meet up for some 40 to 5.

Term used to describe an underaged guy or girl that you would other wise hook up with if not for the damn legal system. 5 to 7 because hooking up could result in 5 to 7 years in prison.

9 to 5

An extremely hot chick who becomes much less so when she begins to talk, revealing the inner workings (or lack thereof) of her pea sized brain. Not a problem for short term satisfaction but greatly reduces any chance of long-term relationships. A 9 to 5 sometimes shows uncanny knowledge in certain areas, such as the names of Brad and Angelina's kids or the price of designer handbags.

Bob: You see that chick I was talking to - she's smoking hot, but . . .
Ed: But what?
Bob: She thought Dick Cheney was a sort of necklace you wear on your pecker.
Ed: Total 9 to 5. You gonna try to bone her anyway?
Bob: Fuck yeah - I'm gonna show her my Dick Cheney!
