When someone fails to wash their clothes, or had planned to do so but was unable to, and is then merely left to choose from the limited or non-existent selection of clothes they still have available.
Joey was planning to do a load of laundry before flying to Hawaii, but he went to the bar after work instead of going to the laundromat, so he experienced a clothes default.
