When you try to start a round of applause with the "spark" by clapping but no one else joins in and it quickly dies leaving you feeling really embarrassed and everyone staring at you awkwardly.

David: I was at an awards banquet and I saw a girl go up then I tried to start an applause reflexively. No one followed me and everyone started just staring at me.

Notch 4 Misfire

When an individual who has been exposed to an elongated period of seemingly subarctic temperatures gets in their car and, lost in their innermost desire to reach homeostasis, blasts the heat in the car to notch 4 (two notches from maximum). After a period of 4-6 minutes depending on the quality of the cars heating system, the person begins sweating profusely and could possibly undergo severe hallucinations. This unfortunate heating mistake is commonly referred to as a notch 4 misfire, not to be mistaken with a notch 2 assassin. (see also)

When someone alters a Wikipedia article to win a specific argument, anyone who reads the false article before the "error" is corrected suffers from collateral misinformation.

I changed the scientific classification of red foxes last night in order to win an debate with Judy. I hope some stupid High School student doesn't suffer from collateral misinformation.
