conversational puma

A Conversational Puma is a loud and opportunistic member of a conversation. The "puma" part comes from the person's tendency to "pounce" on you when you are trying to tell a story with loud interjections like "NO WAY" or "I KNOW". Though its debateable whether the conversational puma is truely interested in what you are saying or if he/she is just patronizing you, the story usually ends up being truncated for no other reason than to avoid being loudly interrupted.

This word was recently pioneered on the radio program Loveline by Adam Carolla.

Jesus christ, I hate that Suzy. I can't finish a single sentence with her without her pouncing on me with 'OMG' or something like that. She's such a conversational puma.

jailhouse conversion

A sudden shift in belief systems (usually finding Jesus, but also Allah and probably every other Deity) after a period of incarceration. Usually a ploy for leniency with the legal system. Oddly, given the separation of church and state that we're supposed to have in this country, it does sometimes seem to have a positive effect when going to talk to the judge/parole board. Everyone from your local meth dealer to Manuel Noriega, Dictator of Panama have tried this one, making it one of the truly "oldest ones in the book".

typical jailhouse conversion:

Crack Dealer: Your Honor, I found Jesus in the Dade County Jail.

Judge: Big deal, this is Florida, every third guy in there is named Jesus....

Shower conversation

A conversation in which one expresses all of their points in the exact ideal way of doing so, involving all possible arguments and pieces of evidence; i.e. a situation where one does not think of additional insults or supporting ideas in the shower, after a disagreement has concluded.

"Luke said that he doesn't get too close to girls when he talks to them, I told him that's exactly what he does and everything that everyone has always wanted to say to him. Get fucked Luke."

"Sounds like a right shower conversation. He got fucked."

"Yeah."

When speaking to someone who doesn't understand very much English, speaking with an accent corresponding to that of the other person's is speaking with a conversational accent, an attempt to help them understand.

Dave: Hey, why is Eric talking with a Chinese accent?
Sam: Oh, his grandma isn't very good at English I think...
Dave: Geez, he's got a pretty good conversational accent.

conversation hostage

1) someone who is trapped in a conversation against their will. often they will try to change the subject, but no matter how many times they do, the conversation always moves back to the original subject. Sometimes, it is avoidable, but there are many scenarios where one cannot escape - eg, in college/school where one is sat at the same desk as a conversation jailer.

2) to hold someone conversation hostage

1) Jemma was forced to listen to Daisy talk about her dad and Burger King for an hour because she had no means of escape. Boy did she get held conversation hostage!

2) man, that Daisy held Jemma conversation hostage for an hour talking about Burger King! She's such a conversation jailer!
