“Goop” is a slang term used to refer to the drug codeine, also known as “lean”.
Promethazine with codeine syrup is used to treat coughs in medicine but when mixed with soda to make the taste nicer, the syrup is abused and used recreationally.
It is regularly glamourized by popular culture.
