Located on an oceanside cliff in sunny La Jolla, UC San Diego is one of the world's top institutions for producing researchers, innovators, and awkward engineers. It is consistently ranked #1 by Washington Monthly, a magazine that nobody reads. As California's unofficial science department, UCSD research discovered the first evidence for climate change, the cause of diabetes, and a colony of endangered ants living in Chancellor Khosla's mustache. Its mascot, King Triton, is well-known as the most badass eunuch of all time.

UC San Diego is minutes from most of San Diego's world-class attractions. But if you're looking for UCSD students, you'll find them napping at Black's Beach wishing they could surf, waiting in line at TapEx, or hiding from social interaction in Geisel Library. Despite not having a football team, students find things to do, like studying for midterms between raves.

UCSD was designed with a unique six-college system, to give freshmen an easy conversation starter. These colleges (Revelle, Muir, Marshall, Warren, Roosevelt, Sixth) are considered pretty equal, except for Sixth. Campus-wide traditions like the legendary Sun God Festival unite the colleges as one university.

Out of its 200,000 graduates, UCSD has produced exactly four famous alumni: Nick Woodman, who founded GoPro, and those three interchangeable Asians from Wong Fu Productions. The other 199,996 are all out there somewhere, still complaining about not having gotten into Berkeley.

Even with triton eye, it's harder to find a parking spot than a hot girl at UC San Diego.

Jacking it in San Diego

The act of publicly masturbating while on a street corner in San Diego, usually after having led a social justice campaign, and gone nuts from the pressure. The term was coined by South Park which satirized the founder of Invisible Children, Jason Russell, for engaging in the aforementioned act, which pretty much destroyed any momentum his movment, Kony 2012, had left.

Kyle: "Well when you're naked and jacking it in San Diego, don't say I didn't warn you."

Stan: "What?!"...

Barber shop trio: "Jackin' it, jackin' it, jack-ity jack, spankin' it, slappin' it, spank-ity slap!"...

Southeast San Diego 

One of San Diego's most diversely prolific (and often misunderstood) urban communities, known by most locals as an area plagued by gang violence, poverty, and homicide especially throughout the 80's and 90's, and even today.

Southeast San Diego is part of City Council District 4, and encompasses the overwhelmingly working-class, and minority professional class-inhabited neighborhoods of Mt. Hope, Mountain View, Southcrest, Shelltown, Chollas View, Ridgeview, Webster, Oak Park, Lincoln Park, Emerald Hills, Broadway Heights, Valencia Park, Alta Vista, O'Farrell Park, Skyline, North and South Encanto, North and South Bay Terrace, Jamacha, Lomita Village, and Paradise Hills.

The area is extremely diverse, with nearly 90% of the population nearly evenly split Latino, Filipino/Southeast Asian, and African-American. Southeast San Diego is served by three urban high schools, Gompers High in Chollas View, Lincoln High in Lincoln Park, and Morse High in Skyline, though due to growing dissatisfaction with the local high schools, a growing number of students from the area are sent to high schools in San Diego's more affluent suburbs "North of (Interstate) 8" i.e. University City High and Mira Mesa High.

Nevertheless, despite the struggles that most inner-city communities deal with on the daily, Southeast San Diego is currently undergoing a much-needed urban and cultural renaissance throughout its beleaguered communities.

Pokémon GO San Diego

“Pokémon GO San Diego” is one of the largest local user-based community group established and acquired by Ali Vongsathian on July 17, 2021 during the annual GO Fest Global Event.

It was originally created as a Facebook Messenger group called “Pokémon GO City Heights” for the area of interest to play. On April 27, 2020 Niantic, Inc. the developers of Pokémon GO introduced the remote raid pass feature.

The group no longer served a purpose for a specific area of San Diego due to the capability of remote raiding anywhere in the world. It was eventually merged with Discord and rebranded as “Pokémon GO San Diego” on August 17, 2021.
