Someone who is easily distracted by shiny objects, similar to a cat who gets distracted when you shake a shiny object or toy in his face. A person who is not very intelligent.

Objectified

A term originally associated with 19th century German philosophy, especially that of Hegel, in which the positive action of a person (the Subject/actor) transformed that which was acted upon (the Object/thing acted upon). 20th century radicals subsequently referred to cultures or peoples who were exploited, sexualized or romanticized in by Westerners as being "Objectified" in and by Western culture, rather than understood has having their own identities and agency.

Tunisian novelist Albert Menni's "The Colonizer and the Colonized" is one of the best books about how the European conquest of North Africa objectified Arabs and their culture.

objectivitism

Alteration of objectivism.

This word originated in 1999 on a free ProBoards forum when some diehard randroid came and put a quote relating to Objectivism in her signature. This caused ads for Objectivist dating/sportswear/etc. to appear on every thread---the administrator quickly added "objectivism" to the censored word list and made it so every time she used this word it would become "objectivitism."

Since then, the word has come into widespread use in our community and probably others as well; where I live, you frequently hear people referring to "objectivitism" or "objectivitists" when referring to Ayn Rand's philosophy or her followers, respectively.

Jennifer is a diehard Objectivitist; she is a devout follower of Objectivitism.

objective morality

The disbelief that right and wrong are pure and consistent concepts given to us by God or Yahweh which can't be challenged, redefined or argued against. In other words, our world is one with no moral grays. Everybody is either a wholesome follower, or a sinful deviant.

"God gave us objective morality, meaning I don't need to take responsibility for my misogyny and homophobic tendencies."

Objective-C

A mediocre and generally useless programming language composed of C and Smalltalk poorly stitched together. It is basically Apple's own little Visual Basic.

Objective-C is the language of choice when developing applications for iOS, which is literally the only reason you would ever want to use it.

Thanks to Objective-C, we have more than enough fart and Sudoku apps to go around.
