Dave
/dāv/
noun | verb | exclamation
An experienced mechanic and all-around legend. Known for being helpful, hardworking, and having the best intentions — but somehow, through no logical sequence of events, will always be involved when something goes inexplicably sideways.
The human embodiment of mechanical chaos theory. If a
tool is going to vanish, a
truck’s wiring loom is going to spontaneously combust, or a PTO cable ends up in a
tree — Dave was probably nearby. No one knows how. Not
even Dave.
Used as a curse or
cry of disbelief, especially when something has gone so irreversibly pear-shaped that only yelling “DAVVVVVEEEEEEE” at full volume can express the full emotional weight.
Examples:
“Why is the hoist stuck halfway and playing the
radio backwards?”
“Mate… Dave was on it.”
Toolbox just fell through the floor again — DAVVVVVEEEEEEE!!!
