Not only do you have to be lucky in achieving the right outcome, but you also have to avoid the wrong ones on the way. It implies a certain level of complexity or layers of contingency in order to come out ahead. In Craps, Hard 6 & Hard 8 are the longest odds (9 to 1) that hinge upon more than one throw of the dice (avoiding 7 or other combinations of 6 or 8, respectively).
Commander Adama's raid on a Cylon base in Battlestar Galactica. Firing a missle and hoping it destroys the base in one fell swoop is like betting on snake eyes (1+1). The odds are long (30 to 1) and hinge on one result. But coming up with a strategy that involves the use of decoys, anticipating enemy responses, etc., requires everything to go as planned but it gives you better (some would say more realistic) but still long odds (9 to 1). That's why "sometimes you gotta roll the hard six."

Get the roll with me bitch mug.
1) slow your roll
Driving analogy used to indicate the opposite party is going too fast--their level of excitement/interest/energy is too high and might better come down a notch or two.

"Baby, you're moving so fast, you're going to overheat. You're coming at me in fifth gear; maybe bring it down to second. You know, slow your roll."

When giving a woman oral sex, one latches onto her clitoris with his front teeth. He then proceeds to death roll as if he were a gator killing its prey. Also when a woman death rolls on a male's genetalia.
My girlfriend gave me a sand job last night and I haven't been able to walk all day. I'm gonna get her back with a guatamalen gator roll.

This name used to describe those parking spaces which have an empty spot ahead of them, thus saving the driver from having to back out into the lane (if they don't normally back in).
This can be something spotted from far off, or more often it is a total surprise to find a "Ronnie Roll-Through".

Cliff and Bruce were circling the lot in their brown Ford Probe when they spotted a parking space. Pulling into it, happy to find a space they realized that it was a ronnie roll-through.

1.) In Vietnam US troops used the term "rock n' roll" to describe firing full auto with a firearm, especially a machince gun.
