When you die, and then you come back to life. Or in films a character is assumed dead when he/she is not dead. That character then shows themself alive.

Rafe McCawly "returns from the Dead" in Pearl Harbor, after being shot down in Europe.
Freddy Krueger has a constant return from the dead thing.
