There are
different types of depression.
It is a feeling of hopelessness with no vigour for life. Usually accompanied with extreme
anxiety, over-analysis of past situations. There is
always a cause.
A child living in an abusive family with no way out and/or being bullied may feel extremely anxious and alone and attention seek to obtain the
love they are not getting at
home, either by cutting or fighting or being a drama
queen or getting obsessive over things or looking for an older partner to take of her.
A rape victim or person from a sexually abusive
relationship may have a more hidden type of depression where they plan to kill themselves but pretend to be
happy and normal on the outside around those closest to them following the
rape. A survivor of
rape, several years on might be more open about his or her feelings in regard to this and show more obvious signs of their depression.
Someone who has experienced an abortion as the result of sexual abuse might have a long term alienation and confusion over their life and a more subtle form of ongoing depression they don't really talk about.
A lot of people with depression are considered selfish and self-centred, which is an ignorant way of looking at that person. If someone has horrendous problems, of course they'
re going to be depressed over them.
