It is the adopted nickname of the ghanaian national football squad.the black stars were a highly successful football team being crowned 4 times african champions from the 60's to 80's with the influencial player abedi pele and the likes of tony yeboah.
Of late the black stars have seen a revolution under the guidance of ratomir djucovic and have recently qualified for the 2006 world cup. a feat that had never been accomplished by prior squads.
the new generation of ghanaian footballers includes the likes of Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah who are considerd the spine of the team set to surprise the footballing world at the upcoming fifa world cup.
