Post-Grunge

Music for douchebags. Post-grunge is a broadly-defined genre, but in general it refers to excreable acts like Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, Staind, Hoobastank, 3 Doors Down, Creed, Collective Soul, Silverchair, Candlebox, and Switchfoot. Because they all have essentially the same "singing" style, every post-grunge frontman is interchangeable, and every post-grunge song sounds exactly alike, no matter the band. Chord progressions are childlike in their simplicity, but it doesn't matter because the guitars are heavily distorted and the lead singer is often found making inhuman sounds into the mic. Post-grunge music can make 80s synth-pop look like Mozart by comparison, but somehow these groups continue to rake in cash hand over fist. Blame the douchebags who listen to this garbage, I guess.

Grunge

Sure Nirvana were a Grunge band, but they were mainstream. Mainstream Grunge isn't real Grunge in my opinion. The Real Grunge bands were Mudhoney, Alice In Chains, Melvins, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Screaming Trees, Green River, Malfunkshun etc.

Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction, and Sonic Youth, although great bands, were NOT Grunge.

If you want great Grunge rock listen to "Piece of Cake" by Mudhoney, "Houdini" by Melvins, and "Dirt" by Alice In Chains. And compare that to Nirvana's "Nevermind". Nevermind doesn't even come close.

tammy grungers

Girls who try to be grungers by buying anything from the tammy grunge range,claire's accessorie's grunge range or anything that is similar to it (e.g. Fuscia bows on skull and crossbones) Anything that combines 'girlyness' with grunge.

A few examples on tammy grungers:
colours mainly being: Fuscia (or any type of bright disustingly blinding pinks)
Red
White
Black
Accessories many include: Huge safety pins sticking out of clothes.
Wrist bands or "grunge" jewellery from Claire's Accessories
Wild coloured of jet black hair dyes
over use with an eye pencil
Black converses with brightly coloured laces

stupid label put by the media to describe an indescribable movement of music in the late '80s and early '90s. usually great sounding music that is messed up by idiots who try to make sense of it. NIRVANA is the greatest band ever.

grungemo

One who combines components of grunge fashion and emo fashion, as well as listens to both genres. While this will seem implausible to some on both sides of the spectrum, upon closer inspection you will find that they share some very similar characteristics. They are both rooted in punk music, are both considered decade defining, and are both shunned by those in "normal" society. Musically, they consist of angsty lyrics and melodic instrumentation. There are some common fashion staples, as well, such as Chuck Taylor's or long/dyed hair sometimes covering the face. Fashion-wise, a grungemo will often end up combining aspects of fashion, and could be seen in torn jeans just as often as black drainpipes.

Person 1: Look at that grungemo guy over there.

Person 2: Where?

Person 1: Over there, with the torn skinnies and Pearl Jam Stickman shirt.
