Litterbox effect

When a very large number of people hold onto a completely ridiculous and bogus belief, no matter how extensively it is disproven, to push an agenda, while often even knowing deep down that it is inherently untrue.
Examples of the litterbox effect include:
- Schools supposedly placing litterboxes in bathrooms for furry students (the namesake of the effect)
- Anti-vaccine sentiment
- Climate change denial
