An app that'
s an online
talent showcase where users, usually teens and early 20s, post short videos of their dancing, singing, lip syncing, cosplay, animation, comedy, art, and many other interests.
There is a lot of cringe, shallowness, and ugly behavior on Tiktok because it's a human community, and that's human nature. There are also trends and feuds for the same reason.
But Tiktok is also the way that incredibly talented
people, who might otherwise stay
anonymous, get to grab the spotlight and bring others joy with what they can do. Every day, there are new videos posted that will blow your mind or make you laugh, no matter what types of creativity you find impressive.
A lot of
people seem to find Tiktok irritating. There is sometimes bullying and stupidness in the comments. There is the self hatred many feel inside because they disapprove of Tiktok but still can't stop watching. There is also some jealousy when users wish they could be Tiktok famous but have failed or are afraid to try.
Yes there is cringe, there is cancer, there are vsco girls and sjws saying "abuse!" till it makes you tired, there are no-
talent successes, and even the mentally
ill using Tiktok as a safe creative outlet (sometimes brilliantly, sometimes not).
Tiktok is the good AND the
bad of millennials and genZ on display, and despite the
hate, Tiktok is a force of nature in the social online world where every last person under
25 (not to mention most other
people) spend their time.
