law related communications

A field of public communications that specialized in the unique needs of the legal profession. The term was originally "coined" in the 1970s by business consultant Larry Horist to define a specialized service of his consulting business. It was first used in his business essay, "Public Affairs and the Corporation." Horist believed that in those days, "lawyers never talked to the public, and public relations people talked too much."
There is going to be a lot of public interest in this law suit, we should get some law related communications advice.

law of diminishing returns

What a state with a deposit on beverage-containers unwittingly enacts upon itself by not adjusting the amount of said deposit in response to inflation.
Maine's five-cents-per-container deposit began in early 1977, and yet it's still only that exact same amount today --- yup, in well over FORTY YEARS, the amount of "green" that you get for recycling a soft-drink bottle or beer can hasn't gone up past just a nickel, even though a "Tommy disc" isn't worth nearly so much nowadays as it was "way back when"! It's no wonder, therefore, that fewer and fewer people are bothering to actually cash in their own drink-containers or pick up ones that litterbugs have tossed... sounds like da classic "law of diminishing returns" to me... yep, da state had originally voted in da returnable-bottle law in an effort to reduce waste and beautify our countryside, but nowadays our roadsides and parks are actually MORE cluttered than ever before!

Good Law Man

Best exemplified by Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane, until they screwed him out of his pension!
Random Citizen: Roscoe was a good law man. That was, until they voted to not award him his pension.

Murphy's Intersection Law

When there's a four-way stop sign intersection a quarter mile ahead of you with no cars in it, that suddenly has cars converging from all sides at the same as you, making it impossible to discern who's supposed to go, and making a hazardous situation.
I had a bad case of Murphy's Intersection Law driving home. No one knew who was supposed to go, and we all crashed into each other.

mother in law trap

A trap set by a mother in law whose child has moved away, mostly out of state. The mother makes grandiose promises in the hopes that it will lure the couple back home.
"Her mom said if we move back from CA that we will be able to get well paying jobs with Mr. Snidesworth at the laboratory."
"Be careful bro, it could be a mother in law trap."
