the law of dangling cords

Whenever you have a cord, rope, wire, string, etc. on your person that is dangling as you walk or move, then the dangling object has a tendency to get caught up or wrapped around another object in your path.
As I transported the DVD player from the bedroom to the living room, the cord got wrapped around the bathroom doorknob. That is what you call the law of dangling cords.

gum giving laws

The gum giving laws are the laws on who you can or cannot give gum to. The reasons you cannot give someone a piece of gum are as follows:

If they are named Addison,
If they put a dent in your wall,
If they cried on your pillow,
And if they previously tried to steal your gum
The gum giving laws were created by Pope John XII and are now in effect in every country even Singapore where gum is banned

Murphy's Mechanic's Law

Anything in your car that has gone wrong, will ""not"" go wrong when the mechanic is looking.
My high-beam dimmer--switch is faulty, yet when I took the car to the mechanic for troubleshooting, the switch worked perfectly for him! Typical Murphy's Mechanic's Law at work!

law school gunner

1. Gunners do not have the first clue.
2. They try to sound smart.
3. They probably are the class "anvil" in a law school with a tight curve.
4. And finally, they end up dropping out or just come to accept that their classmates get their above qualities and so they stop trying to fool everyone else, including themselves.

These gunners wither away and become normal, despite having gone to law school, and they become replaced.

However, sometimes gunners go into hibernation, or some latent gunners who never had the audacity to be a gunner in law school, become your stereotypical lawyer when they manage to stumble their way into a job after law school.

Do not be fooled with people in the legal profession, or any other profession, who try hard to sound smart by using, for example, "par excellence" and "since time immemorial" in the same sentenced stuffed with legalese. It's OK if every now and then people get "rewarded" for no merit if that means they will shut up, as long as they know that we are in on their game, and that they'll have to change eventually into mature adults.

Mother-in-law's Contracture

When a person's lips grant a facial expression of sadness when at rest or even when expressing joy. The lips fail to reach a horizontal orientation even when the person is attempting to smile.
Husband: Your mother looks looks so pissed off right now.

Wife: Nope, she is smiling.
Husband: Yeah, but she has a huge frown; it looks like an upside down U, like the old dude in Up.
Wife: Oh, that's because hse has the mother-in-law's contracture.
