The act of planting the seeds of chaos, drama, and or conflict on social media.

A members of a high school clique will often resort to this tactic in order to create gossip about having haters. Some narcissistic people, usually in high school, secretly desire haters. They feel as tho it makes them look cool to “have haters” and gives them a degree of clout in social circles. It also helps ferment some juicy group chat conversations and drama gossip. This is similar to covert trolling.

Kelsey knew she would look bad if she was overtly provoking those nerds at the anime convention. So she resorted to hate farming them. Now she can look like an angel in front of everyone because she has so many haters and doesn't respond to them. You go girl! *not!
