Is a term used by prison inmates who affiliate with inner prison gangs or cliques. Also can be used synonously as an alternate meaning to describe one or more newbie, lower and upper level urban gang members whom participate in the act(s) of putting in time by carrying out (commiting) tasks, specific odd jobs, individual job assignments, and loyalty tests instructed by senior members of the gang for the benefit of the gang.
"I put in WORK you know, I handled my shit! You know what I'm sayin."
"If HE wants us to have his back he'll have to put in WORK, to prove that he's legit ya know."

Like a work husband/gf/bf, but so similar in hobbies and knowledge that it is as if they are the same person.
William is my work soulmate because we are both reptile parents, are Eastern European in ethnicity, have the same career path, education and knowledge and have an old soul. We connect on many levels and are supportive to each other at work when others spread gossip and lies.
