Tourist

A person or persons that interact with a community, typically a fandom, despite being uneducated in the subject matter. While not inherently negative, the most common use of the word is as an insult towards outsiders that partake in bad-faith criticism.

A: You're a tourist that hasn't even read the book, so why do you care?
B: That tourist has no idea what he's talking about.

Those nosy, spiteful individuals that go about visiting an area that got recently damaged/destroyed by a natural disaster or crash site.

Anger Tourist

People, most notably grifters, who claim that a certain decision ruined or will ruin a movie or video game franchise/company while claiming themselves as a longtime fan of said franchise. In reality, they are not actual fans of the franchise and are instead treating this situation as a thing to tell their followers to get mad at. Usually the most inconvenient of things.

They will often forget about the situation in a week, as they are busy chasing the next thing to get angry at. Hence why they are considered tourists because they don't actually represent the fandom and are only there for a day.

Most of these people are found on Twitter and YouTube.

Grifter: "They ruined the franchise by making the main female lead slightly less sexy. This game is doomed. Fucking DEI ruining everything"

Actual fans: Oh great, the Anger tourist has arrived.

A person who travels and relocates to another city to an open air drug market (usually a homeless encampment) for safe and easy access to their drug of choice, often stealing to support the habit.

People who are homeless in Oakland are not typically from here. They are drug tourists.

language tourist

A person (usually white) who learns languages for fun rather than by necessity and berates immigrants who learn languages because they need to. Despite the fact that language tourists have a very shallow grasp on the languages they visit, they tend to dismiss the immigrants who actually need to learn complex grammar and vocabulary in a colonial environment instead of learning two sentences for entertainment.
