A Scientific Railgun

An anime series. Better known as To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (とある科学の超電磁砲＜レールガン＞ / "To Aru Kagaku no Reerugan"). A side story of To Aru Majutsu no Index (とある魔術の禁書目録＜インデックス＞ / "To Aru Majutsu no Indekkusu"). This side series is focused on another main character, Mikoto Misaka (御坂美琴 / "Misaka Mikoto"), a Level 5 esper, nicknamed "Railgun" because of her ability to manipulate electricity, to allow the use of a special move that allows her to fire a projectile at several times the speed of sound. This "move" is similar to a actual railgun, a experimental Navy weapon which fires a projectile using electromagnetic force.

light rail

A post modern, post oil train that is basically a cross between a big city subway (e.g. metro) and an old school trolly. When serviced by a competent organization, this type of train has the potential to beat the living shit out of global warming and peak oil.

In America, however, when mismanaged by your typical urban state government, a light rail system quickly becomes a broken down version of the world's smallest joke amongst the increasing proportion of working folk who can't afford $4/gallon gasoline.

The Baltimore light rail is a vital link of the area's public transit system, yet it just makes the city look more ghetto while it does very little to reduce traffic on interstates 83 and 97. Furthermore, it fails to convince the youth of Glen Burnie and Cockeysville that pimped out Civics and low riders are not the wave of our global ecological future.

A cliched maneuver of incapacitating adversaries in many action-based films by firing at a rival gunmen standing near a guard rail, to which they then flip over the structure (more often then not, clutching the entry wound before plummeting). Possibly first referenced in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode "Space Mutiny".

Damn, did you see how far the drop was after that railing kill?! The only thing that could've made that better was if he did a Wilhelm Scream!
