Punk rock is a movement that was started in the 70's by The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, etc. Punk rock is defined as being loud/fast riffs with lyrics that are mostly affiliated with taking down the establishment or other stuff like that.

The "Punk Rock" bands that are just posing as punk bands should never be though of as punk bands, but EMO bands who want to think that they are punk.
