The band was formed by Chino Moreno (vocalist), Chi Cheng (bassist, died in 2013 at the age of 42, R.I.P), Stephen Carpenter (lead guitarist), Abe Cunningham (drummer) The Replacement for Chi Cheng is Sergio Vega. Deftones owns an unreleased album named "Like Linus".
