A poser is someone who dresses a way to fit in a group of kids that they are not. Usually posers talk way to much about a subject such as skateboarding that they arent even good at. There never seen skating but are seen at skateparks just sitting or just riding around not doing any tricks. When i see somebody wearing a Bam shirt or have a Bam board i see them as a poser. Dont wear element or adio, birdhouse, blind, or shorty's.If you wear a pink shirt, face it your gay dont wear pink. If you want to look cool or dress like you know what to wear my suggestions are: 10 DEEP is the shit, dope as fuckkk, Krew, RVCA pronounced as (rooka) if anybody tells you different tell them they're an idiot first then tell them that they're wrong. Acitve is dope i think, lakai, lrg, dgk, matix, nixon, and some Zoo York. You will deffinetly not look like a poser if you wear those brands with some CCS pants or Krew pants. They talk the talk but dont walk the walk. They listen to certain bands or rappers that other people listen to cuz they dont know what to listne to or becuase thats what everybody else listens to.

Most people you will meet in life; People who do things because it will improve their social standing, not because they actually enjoy/care about what they are doing are considered posers. Should be seen as a subculture, albeit a parasitic one that hijacks any other given subculture, waters it down, makes it "trendy" and causes people who still try to stick with the given subculture to look like a walking cliche. A good analogy is when a corporation donates to a large charity, then puts up commercials about it, proving (9/10 times) that they donated to appeal to the masses, not because they want to make the world a better place. Also, for racial minorities, an equivalent of poser would be a "ghetto rat," a "gangster," or any other stereotype.

The way 'hipster' has become because of posers, compared to the way it was before most people even knew about it. The way 'emo' (or Post Punk) has become, largely because of posers that were previously identified as 'scenesters.' The way 'Goth' and 'Punk' have become, due to kids seeing Marilyn Manson and thinking that dressing a certain way would help them rebel against society.

Hmm. . .could be a tricky one. For the most part, posers are considered to be people who try to fit in with a certain subculture. The most common ones (subcultures) are goths, punks, skaters, emo etc.
There is also other problems posers present:
1) People who are not trying to be a goth/skater/punk/emo etc. may run the risk of being verbally/physically assaulted by the said stereotype, because they believe that the person is a 'poser', and must therefore be eliminated.
2) It becomes difficult to tell the posers and the 'real thing' apart.
3) How do you define a poser? Someone who likes to wear black clothes and listen to more mainstream music than *and everyone shall die drowning in my river of tears slit blood autumn death hearbreak*? Is anyone who likes to skate but is not crazy about it a poser?

1) I was in town today, and a crowd of 'non poser goths' started yelling that I was a poser, simply because I was wearing a black top. They did not take into account the fact that i had a bag which clearly displayed the words 'I Love Kelly Clarkson and Shayne Wark 4 Eva' in btight pink.
