Nu metal means new metal. Just like Metallica and Slayer was in the beginning of the 80's. I think it was good that some of the Nu metal bands came. Metallica was good in the 80's, but after that they sucked pretty hard. Nu metal saved metal from being worn out. But most Nu metal band sucks today too. Korn and Slipknot are the best nu metal bands, but I don't like to call them that, cuz they don't sound like eachother or like Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit(who sucks harder than anything else that's called metal) at all.. Only three bands from the 80's are good:
Metallica (the four first albums)
Slayer
Iron Maiden.
And new bands that are good:
Korn, Slipknot, Disturbed, Static-X, Marilyn Manson.
But maybe some of these bands are gonna suck some day too, like Metallica do today.
Many of Korn and Slipknots fans listen to old metal too. And my daddy (41 years old) like some of Korns songs, and some of Slipknots songs, and some Marilyn Manson-songs. But he usually listen to Metallica, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Judas Priest, and bands like that.
Slipknot was opening band for Metallica once, and most of the audience liked it. And Slipknot toured with Slayer, and the slayer-fans liked Slipknot.

The Nu Metal label is slapped onto almost every band that was created after the late '90's or any metal band that becomes mainstream.
Many people say nu metal isn't real metal and that it's shit. Well guess what? By many people's definition, Metallica is nu metal. They're probably the most heard of and mainstream metal band in the world. I'm pretty sure Metallica isn't shit, both metal heads and nu metal fans can agree on that. Metallica is one of the best metal bands.

A form of heavy metal. There are many people on this site that says it's the, "light beer" of metal. Have you even listened to any of slipknot? Most of your taste in metal can hardly be called music. Bands of nu metal actually have something you can enjoy listening to. If you still think it's wimpish, listen to people=shit by slipknot. Then tell me that nu metal is for pussies. Because honestly, you don't know metal.
Slipknot is a great band. All of the extreme metal bands are shit, it's just a riff of electric guitar and a random scream every now and then. Nu metal is the only thing that people with a shred of insanity can enjoy out of the metal genre
