A feral feline snatched from abject poverty, and brought into the home by altruistic humans under the false notion that the cat would prefer confinement and processed gruel over freedom and fresh rat flesh.

We "rescued" Toby from the alley behind our apartment. He claws at the doors and bites people when they try to pet him, but that's just how a Dumpster Cat shows affection.
