Fling refers to a brief moment of blissful joy such as “one final fling before a tranquil retirement”-Oxford Languages. Many people nowadays use fling as a word meaning a “one night stand”, although you can use fling in that sense due to the fact a “one night stand” is a brief moment of blissful joy. Even though the word fling can be used as an alternate meaning of a “one night stand” doesn’t mean that it is its only means that.
