In fact ethnic minorities are at risk of type 2 diabetes after the age of 25, whereas for Caucasians the risk for type 2 diabetes increases after the age of 40. You may also be at risk of type 2 diabetes if you have a family member with the disease, have high blood pressure, high cholestrol, delivered a baby heavier than 9lbs and lead a sedentary lifestyle. The good news is that type 2 diabetes can be reversible and can be put into 'remission' if you lead a healthy lifestyle such as losing weight, quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy diet and participating in physical excercise.
