Strand Polytechnic

A pejorative term for King's College London, generally used by students at its rival institution, University College London. The term manages to convey a sense of KCL's being mediocre in both academic and social terms: a polytechnic was, in the UK, a college offering mainly vocational degrees, widely considered to be inferior to the older universities, and with an attached social stigma. The Strand is the London street where 'Strand Poly' has its main campus (although it has spread to the South Bank and beyond.)

Strand type game

A new kind of genre that makes mainstream Gamers scared and angry because they're not able to cope with a game that makes them think differently.

A term coined by Hideo Kojima to refer to his game Death Stranding. Strand type games are mainly about making connections, specially between players in an asynchronous manner. These games place combat in the backseat (if not removing them completely), making players that are used to the AAA Skinner Box shooters irrationally angry and confused.
Fred is making this game about placing alerts and ladders in a world for other players to use. This might be the next strand type game!
