Pronounced just as it sounds, the
slang word “Shriv” is derived from the word “shriveled”, which isn’t an
American word, rather, perhaps from a Scandinavian source (compare Swedish skryvla "to wrinkle, to shrivel, to shrink”)
“Shriv” is a word which describes one’s state of mind/state of being. It means to be
cold. As in, unprepared. Not ready. Shriv is the opposite of being ready. Instead of saying “I’m going in HOT” the word “SHRIV” replaces the word “HOT”.
