Settle is a small town in the Yorkshire dales, the majority of the locals are related but still deny being inbred. These people also are born live and die in the town with no hopes and aspirations of life anywhere else. This doesn’t make sense as there is nothing to do in settle whatsoever other than go to the pub or slit your wrists.

It means to get married or commit to a monogamous relationship; probably the two most indicative words for the situation itself, born of a word that can mean "to move downward; sink, or descend," "to subdue," and "to conclude," and a word that means the "opposite of up."
