It should be used only to describe incorrigible types of people like neo-nazi skinheads and radical feminists, who go beyond the usual levels of bigotry found in the far right or far left.
The feminists showed themselves to be pigots as they opposed the expansion of counseling services to male students, arguing that availability of anything other than the existing female-only counseling would be misogynistic.
