A person who can't stand not being with someone and so goes headlong from one relationship to another without any break in between.

Look at her over there, only broke up with her ex last week and is already going out with someone else. She is such a serial monogamist.

Serial monogamist

A descriptor for a person who has commitment issues but does not engage in cheating or infidelity. A serial monogamist likes the emotional and physical intimacy of relationships and therefore seeks partners who want a longterm romantic relationship. A serial monogamist may or may not warn their partner about their fear of commitment. (Often the partners foolishly believe they will be able to change this about the serial monogamist.)

The relationship may be short-lived or it may last a few months to years, however the serial monogamist is always holding back and if the other partner in the romance pushes at all, the serial monogamist will end the relationship swiftly and often without emotion.

Serial monogamist: I broke up with my boyfriend.

Friend: What???? You guys have been together for three years!

Serial monogamist: I know... I really liked him.

Friend: What happened?

Serial monogamist: He asked me to marry him.

Friend: You're such a serial monogamist!

Verb- to end the relationship in order to serve the needs of a monogamous relationship.

Especially in the case of a new monogamous relationship.

Commonly perpetrated by fake poly people.

We used to be best friends, but his girlfriend doesn't let him talk to me. I can't believe I just got monogamized by someone I've known for 5 years!

Quarterly Monogamist

Someone that commits themselves to a relationship for a short while, at the most a few months and then immediately end it once they feel things have run their course. They move from the end of one relationship to the beginning of a new relationship quickly.

Tom: "Happy 3 Month Anniversary baby?"

Ella: "I love you, but its a new season, so we're through. Nothing personal hun, but I'm usually onto someone new by now. My 3 months are up, buh bye!"

Tom: "Damn quarterly monogamist!"
