The colloquial term "Hennessey" usually refers to Hennessey V.S. -- Very Superior -- which is in essence a brandy distilled from grapes in the Cognac region of france and aged for a minimum of two years in oak barrels. This imbues the brandy with a remarkable smoothness and complexity of flavors that is unequalled anywhere else in the world.
Hennessey also comes in a variety of other forms, from most common to rarest:
