Deriving from the phrase ‘have to’(which is have+infinitive, broken-down into have+to+{verb}, but minus the verb), ‘hafta’ usually functions as a verb-modifying adverb replacing the modal-auxiliary ‘must’, ‘required to ___’; used to show a strong desire toward, or want for, doing something.

HAFTS

"Have a Fucking Terrible Summer." The alternative to writing HAGS (Have a Great Summer) in someone's yearbook. Can be done in jest to a friend or to someone you actually hate. In the latter case you typically wouldn't tell the person what it means.

Billy: "HAFTS... what does that mean?"
Bob: "Have a fucking terrible summer. You know I'm just joking!"

Mandy: "I wrote HAFTS in her yearbook; she has no idea what it means!"
