It's exact meaning has been lost in through the times but most likely it comes from médieval french and has a meaning similar to "Be noble" or "Glory unto the Lord".

A word which can be said to interrupt someone mid-explanation. If the explanation is really long, and tedious, then the listener can suddenly shout 'Beausejour', and the events which follow are at the shouters risk.
