What might at first sound like a compliment but could/should really be taken as an insult when considered in its entirety.

The Republican Senator would never desecrate the holy institution of marriage by voting to allowing gays to wed; just ask his ex.

Backhanded Insult

A compliment couched in the form or tone of an insult. Often used by people who *want* to be nice, but fear being seen as weak or disingenuous, but can be unintentional.

When Maurice told Mary she was "the least photogenic pretty chick" he'd ever seen, he meant that pictures didn't do her beauty justice, but it came off as a backhanded insult.

(Australian Slang - Western suburbs)... Reverse hand masturbation. Where the crevice created by the thumb and forefinger becomes the entry point for the bulbous member. Quite common in the western suburbs in Sydney (wanking capital of the world).

I wanted to try something different the other night. Mrs Palmer suggested a Toongabbie Backhander.

Backranker

A term used for a person in chess who checkmates the other guys king with a rook on the back rank of the board. Usually when a king is castled with 3 pawns in front of it, the rook slides down to that rank and the king is stuck behind the pawns and cannot escape leading to checkmate.

Chess player one: How did that guy win?
Chess player two: He was a backranker.
Chess player one: :(

Backbanger = from the back I'd bang her. Momentary ocular pleasure ruined from the sudden realization of subjects age or gender.

Scenario: Avrumi and Simi at a party.

Avrumi: Yo Simi, do you see that hot girl over there.

Simi: Don't be shy, go offer to buy her a drink.

Avrumi: Excuse me angel face, may I buy you a driii.... Fuck Dad what are you doing here?

Avrumi's Dad: Son, I've been looking all over for you. We need to get gome because Mom is waiting for us.

Awkward silence all the way hoScenario: Avrumi and Simi at a party.
