In Icelandic it translates to mean 'town'. However it has often been used in slang as an abriviation of baby or babe. In Danish it does not mean anything (just saying)

Ég bý í þessum bæ - Which translates to- I live in this town.

Bæ for a dæ

bæ for a dæ is a way to be with someone that you know wouldn't work out. Best used to your advantage when the term is discussed before said "dæ". This term is not only an easy way to get out of a relationship but also an easy way to explain a hookup with a sufficient amount of dignity.

Tim: I thought you and Eric were bæs why aren't you talking?
Jenise: yeah, he's actually just a bæ for a dæ type thing y'know?
